As long as you don't cross center ice (unless hedin g to the bench on a delayed penalty) or freeze the puck outside your priviledged zone, you can skate whereever you want. Just remember that the ref doesn't have to wait for you to get back to the net before dropping the puck if he thinks you are intemtionally wasting time.
However, if the ref blows the whistle specifically due to an "altercation" then you have to stay in your crease unless instructed to move away by the ref or linesman. Cross center ice then and you could get 30 days!
