Dbl Pad Slide & Poke checks
For those individuals outside of North America, who might not be familiar with the size of the State of Michigan's youth and high school hockey programs... I will make this observation.
Last week (3/7-8th) the Michigan high school hockey State Finals were played. Eight games of which more than half were goaltending duels and two of which ended up as Michigan high school hockey records! During the course of these games these young men between the pipes executed dbl pad slides, diving poke checks, hook checks, head saves...etc.
Regardless of the timeline in the advancement of the game of hockey, one thing will remain the same. Already spoken, but re-enforced once again... the tools in the tool kit, the better selection that is available to meet the demand will result in a better mix of saves. Redundant save selection results in predictability, when the shooter knows what to expect, the odds tilt in their favor! Also said already, a true competitor will do what it takes to keep the puck out of the twine.
We present what many of you call old school and outdated along with current. Those who play the game and also consider themselves strudents of the game, take everything they can get... and ask for more because the difference of having that one additional tool in the tool kit is often what makes the difference in getting the call back for the next tryout or getting the jersey after the tryout!
Goaltenders who have heart and passion for what they do, respect for the game and for those who play it, will not dismiss any technique that may improve their game.
As for the DVD promo, it represents inclusion, it shows correct execution and poor execution, as does the rest of the 4 vol. set.
Play Hard! Practice Harder!
