In our game last Tuesday night, the play was going around the back of the net on my stick side, and one of the opposition knocked the net back around 8 inches or so. Well my guys were running around like a bunch of chickens with their heads cut off so I figure "cool, we need a stoppage in play"......then I remembered hearing somewhere that in roller they don't stop play unless the net is off more than a foot. So when I followed the play around the back of the net and was moving over to my glove side I "accidently" on purpose nailed the net pretty good and knocked it about two feet off on that side.
Well the ref was standing right there in the corner to my left (the side I just knocked off ) and started to come over, and I THOUGHT he was going to blow the whistle, but he didn't! So I'm like crap where's the friggin' whistle......and then.....where's the friggin' puck at??? It was on it's way from the point into the top stick side of the net! Needless to say I didn't make it over there in time, and they allowed the goal.
As the puck went into the net I looked back to see where the net was because the ref was still back there messing around with the net, and it was still off a foot or so!!!! I preceeded to throw a hissy fit which is very uncommon for me, but I was livid!! The ref totaly ignored me.
This all took place late in the third, and we WERE up 4-3. The game ended in a tie 4-4.
So what's the ruling on this???
Thanks,
Rick
