I have played where you play Werner and I have to say that most of refs there are among the worst you can find. They simply do not know the rules of hockey whatsoever. I have many a time had to correct them on where faceoffs should be and such.

In a tournament you almost certainly would have been called for a delay of game but you would have at least got your whistle. In most house leagues there isn't a written "rule" that 1 foot off and youy blow the whistle while less than 1 foot it stands. In roller hockey the net ALWAYS comes off the line- all the time. And those nets where you play weigh like 6 ounces so it's even worse. If they blew a whistle for every net movement in roller hockey you'd never get to play the game! It's the ref's discretion as to whether to blow the whistle or not. At my home rink we have real ice hockey weight nets so it's not as much a problem but even so-they won't blow the whistle ever if the puck is heading safely out of the zone. The ref will just fix the net. If the net comes off at a possible scoring chance they generally will see if the puck goes in before making a call in order to save the flow of the game. I.E. if a guy knocks the net off just as someone shoots, no harm done if the shot misses the net. Keep playing. If the puck goes in the net he may or may not call it a goal depending on who knocked the net over and with what degree of intent. If the goalie knocked the net off and it resulted in a goal you can bank 100% the goal will count.

Since there is no stoppage of the clock in roller hockey I am all for the laxer rules. You MUST keep the game flowing because otherwise you can easily spend 1/2 the game doing faceoffs.
