One thing that might help this issue is if someone could take the gazillion "rules" and "tips" and "guidelines" and "read this before you post" stickies and actually re-write them into one concise "how-to" sticky that would be posted on each board.
While I am the type of person to read the instructions before doing something for the first time, I happen to be a female, and I'm also a non-goalie. Males and goalies don't tend to read directions very well, and they certainly aren't going to read five different sets of directions before posting their very first thread!
Most BBs have one "covers it all" announcement type post stickied at the top of each forum, with a title like "READ THIS BEFORE POSTING". If there were just one such sticky, and if it gave precise instructions on how to search for previous posts on a subject, where to post which kinds of info (equipment issues in the equipment forum, roller in the roller forum), etc., then there's a CHANCE that some people would read it, and if some people read it, there's a CHANCE that some people will actually follow the directions they read.
Unfortunately, no matter how well-written the READ THIS sticky happens to be, the fact remains that the vast majority of the people posting here are males and goalies.... we can really only expect just so much here, people!
