No such thing as overdoing it with your equipment when it comes to ball hockey, just as long as you feel protected enough and fully mobile. I have played ball hockey over the past decade. Over the years, I have come across a ton of "street hockey goalies" with bruised up knees and sore ribs all from using Canadian Tire road warrior gear. Then again, I've seen some ball hockey goalies in the OBHA dressed up in $2k worth in gear only to suck the big one game-in and game-out.

Making the saves is all that really counts.

Here's my ball hockey set: (I consider it the perfect medium)

RBK 5K 34"
DS-992 Catch
DS-992 Block
4.8 Itech CA
4.8 Itech Pants
Sportmask Ricochet
Players Jock

*Using the Sportmask for Ice too
