Safety First!
Why risk injury with shoddy childrens road warrior equipment? Just 'cause Canadian Tire sells it to your neigbours 8 year old kid is no reason to feel guilty about protecting your body and your head with decent equipment. Remember, that stuff is designed for kids, not 200 lb monsters with a 100 mph slapper! All my ball hockey equipment is "retired" ice hockey stuff:
Bauer players bucket w/cat eye cage & Cooper dangler (helmet bought new)
Bauer Supreme C/A
DR Bulletproof Catcher
DR Firewall Blocker
Old CCM pants (don't know the model, but flat fronts, so probably pretty old)
Sherwood Sherlite 2 pads (Modded with 2 extra knee stacks)
As I have progressively upgraded my ice equipment over the years, I have demoted some of it for ball hockey. Some has worked out, some has not. For example, I prefer the players bucket and cage over a combo mask as it is a bit lighter and cooler. Its all about what you feel comfortable playing in. I've used some borrowed road warrior stuff before... felt like I was playing naked!
