Well said,
My 11 yr. old son has not been selected for a couple tyouts he has went to and is not blessed with size (at least at this point in his young life). He is enthused with playing goal and is attending a Bandits camp in a few weeks. In his last tryout, the coach informed me he was not taking him, indicating that he was good enough, and that he had the most raw skill and potential of the group, but that his goalie from last year was small and he paid the price for it. Not sure if this was true to the coach's heart or some type of let down speech which makes the selection process easier for all.
In contrast, my son has attended a couple goalie clinics at his local rink where the instructor strongly indicated to all the students not to listen if anyone tells you that you are too small to play goal no matter what, and to not give up on it if you really have a desire to do it!
