I wouldn't let that keep you from playing, personally. Coming from your angle, I'd be more afraid of your ice game messing up your roller game. And if the alternative is not playing hockey at all, that can't be good for your ice game.

I think the first version of the sport you play will have a much bigger impact on your movements than the second, because you'll be aware of the differences.

In the meantime, roller is great cross-training. The simple amount of shots you'll see per game makes it a great way to practice. Plus it's hockey and it's fun!
