I don't have the time to post a full review right now, but I decided to go back to a Khabibulin style paintjob after experimenting with a custom one I came up with, and here are the results!!
I've always thought that Ron Slaters Blackhwawk mask for Khabiubliln was one of the best paintjobs I've ever seen on a mask, and being that Ron has done 2 other masks for me, and always does a knockout job, it was a no brainer to send it to him.
I did personalize it this way- I live in Tampa, and the building on the front is the St. Pete Times forum instead of a russian building. Instead of the tower, I went with the yellow lightning sculpture that's outside of the forum, as it's a Tampa landmark. I also wanted a gargoyle breaking through the wall on the front instead of my name or "Bulin Wall" as an exact replica would have had (I had something similar on my 9601 Khab. replica).
Slater went above and beyond on this paintjob, it is absolutely AMAZING in person!! The pics below don't do it justice. Ron put foil bricks tinted slightly blue, foil eyes for the gargoyle, foil eyes for the eagle, and foil lettering on the back of the mask. The blue color on the mask is "chromatic", which is a 5 step process and very time consuming to have done. I couldn't be happier with it!! what do you guys think? This paint is what I would consider an NHL quality paintjob..
Again, pics don't do this justice, in person it is even better:
