The show was AMAZING!!!!! It wasn't sold out, we have to create a new word, it was over sold-out. There was not a square inch open on the flour. There was people standing up all show long, there wasn't enough chairs, so people had to stay up, it was incredible.
What we did, we mixed 2 matches. I was supposed to wrestle the guy we want to be our next star and I was supposed to loose so he can say he's the new #1 contender and go in a feud vs our champion in a face vs face feud. (face or babyface = good guy, heel = bad guy)
So, we did a promo that sets up a 3 way, me wanting to fill in for the injured guy and the other wanting to face me. My opponent is named Jimmy Stone and the Champ, Don Paysan.
So, since the match was thrown away at the last minute, nobody would be surprise if our champ retains the belt, which he had to do. So we threw a MAJOR curve ball to the crowd. Match went really well, and at the end, I get throw out and the 2 faces go at it for the finisher. My original opponent gets caught up hanging down with his "broken" foot in the rope and the ref tries to unhook him. The champ backs up and turns around and BOOM, I threw powder to his eyes, I roll him up, both feet in the ropes ala Billy Graham vs Sammartino for the pinfall and the win for the belt!!!!! The people were SHOCKED!!!
So, the greatest part happens here, Jimmy Stone freed himself and try to tell the ref what happened while I'm celebrating with the belt but the ref refused the hear saying he saw nothing, he counted 3 and it's OVER: new champ.
So, then, the founders of the nCw, the real ones and around 20 retired nCw wrestlers (who were all in the crowd for the entire show, in the same section) jumped over the guard rails and one took the mic saying, "Chakal, that was BULL****! We founded the nCw to entertain those great fans here tonight, we made ChallengeMania to present, year after year the biggest show of Quebec Indy wrestling. For US, that belt is FOR REAL! For those people here, for tonight, it's real!!! We just can't accept the BS your feeding us!!! WE just can let it happen, we worked too hard, sacrificed too much to eat that BS! Mr Ref, 8 years ago, I took you from the crowd and put you in your position, before being a ref, a nCw staff member you were a fan, just like everybody here, and for you, it was also real!!! Ask every single person here what happened and what you should do!"
Then the ref looked at the crowd, and people were completely nuts and they were all screaming and trying to convince the ref to do the right thing! When, everything was at it's climax, I went in the middle, I shoved the ref, lift the belt in the air and said "No matter what, you can all just shut your mouth because I AM THE CHAMP!" Then the ref went nuts and literally took off the belt off my hand and yelled to have the bell ring again for the match to continue. When the announcer called the match to continue, the roof almost exploded. I was MAD and turned around and get the **** kick out of me by both faces and got thrown out! The 2 faces went for and Stone put his finisher on Paysan but the leg "broke" so he wasn't able to crawl the last 2 feet to get the cover and the win. The veterans were getting him out of the ring, I came back in went for my finisher but got reverse, Paysan pulled his set up moves and I'm down, he does the HBK nip up. and he's there standing, with the veterans tapping on the ring the fans were all crazy everybody was screaming n-c-w, n-c-w, n-c-w, n-c-w. I got slowly back up and BANG! Paysan's finisher for the win. That building never have been so loud! Then everybody went into the ring to celebrate.
I still have goosebumps. The nCw is 20 years old, still active, no wrestling promotion except for the WWE is older than us in North America. So having the veterans involved, is always something special, even if most of the crowd don't know them, it gives a special feeling.
I think it was the most effective finish in ChallengeMania History and guys in the locker room congratulated me for writing it. Some were hesitant, not thinking it would work, but they presented their excuses to me after the show! LOL
Our champion is now more "over" (over = popular for a face, over = hated for a heel) than ever and the people left the show with the feeling they made their favorite guy win. You know, the feeling of having written the show, being part of it.
Also, the veterans were happy to be involved once more in the show, to have participate to it in front of a sold out crowd. Most of them (Me included, I'm there for 11 years) have build this wrestling promotion, they wrestled more than often in front of 6 people plus their girlfriends. So seeing what we did with the company is great for them, but being able to be involved in such a successful show, in the main event.... I think it's a big thank you from the present staff to them.
I'll have some pictures soon.
