I find that if you angle your stick out more away from your body, it helps me close the gap between my body and blocker. I also try to bring my blocker in and let the puck hit me, instead of reaching out to deflect the puck. I would suggest angling you stick out more (which makes you crouch a little more), which puts your wrist in an better position to move the blocker from side to side. Of course if your angles are off or you are too deep in the crease, that's the first problem...good luck
