At the moment I have some Bauer supreme 1000 player skate where I use 59mm wheels.
I always had that single strap at the heel and used the toe-bridges strings. But recently I left away the strings since they pulled the pad down towards the wheels and I'd stumble around sometimes because the first wheel was blocked (pad cover interferes there too).
Now I started to have that strap going through the punchout of the frame and it seems to work great. So I wondered how you do that.

Hehe, since I still use player skates, I don't care at the moment. I don't have the money for new skates anyway.
