Number one: Always move with the puck. If the puck is going glove side, shuffle or slide the same way the puck is going while following it with your eyes.
Number two: Keep your wrist up. Back in the days, goalies all had their gloves down (
http://www.paintbydoma.com/images/tthomas1024.jpg). Why? Because they thought going from down to up was faster than up to down. Now, goalies keep their wrists up. The difference is that instead of moving your glove in a circular motion, you will move it in straight lines just like people hold their baseball gloves.
