Gotta love finishing out the season ranked as the number one goalie in the league by all mathematical stats, and be beat by the number 6 team in round 2.
Even worse, it looks like I tore up my right knee in the process. Have a few things to bounce off of you guys:
They scored 4 goals on me in the first two minutes. We completely out-played them the rest of the game, we were down 5-4 in the last minute, I got pulled. They won 6-4. Now, goal number one I was 3 feet out of the crease, screen shot from the point comes, and I wind up making a pretty sweet kick save off my right leg pad. I'm in an awkward position, the puck took a really short rebound, maybe three inches off of my pad. I reach with my stick to bring it in, and THE SAME GUY THAT TOOK THE SHOT comes in, takes the puck off of my stick, skates around me and puts it in. He was screened! How on earth did he get there so fast???? I'm not exactly slow on my rebound control either. I'm not sure if I'm at fault for dawdling on bringing that thing in for the freeze, or if my D is at fault for not defending me long enough to get the face off. ???
Goal number two was a shot from the right face-off dot. Goes off my D's leg, redirects five hole on me and in as I was moving left to get in position to stop the one-timer.
Goal number three is where I'm angry and I need feedback. I was a one on 0 break-away. I came out to challenge, I skate back, back, back, he's still coming....the shot never comes. He winds up like he's going to take a slapper, but never executes. Instead, he plows right into me! I'm guessing this is where I injured my knee, as I got my leg on the puck and stopped it, but when he plowed into me, we both went into the net, and so did the puck. The goal counted. ??????
Shouldn't that have at least been a goaltender interference call? Roughing? Something???
Goal 4 was actually my fault. Shot again from my right, dropped into a butterfly, but wasn't hugging the post. Under my blocker, over my pad, between me and the post and in.
Goal 5, break-away for their best shooter. He decides to come from my left, and I go for a poke check. He gets there with his stick _just_ before my stick does, and since I leaned over to poke, I gave up just enough of the aerial angle to get the puck over me. Ugh!!!
Goal 6, empty net.
