Congrats on your purchase. The waiting game started for me about two weeks ago, so I still have a bit to go.
Do you have a somewhat permanent 'S' curve on your pads already? If not, that might be the reason that you had the opening on the knee. I have a permanent one on my C10's (34+2) and I've never come close to getting hit in the knee.
