I don't have the 7400's but I do have the pro model so bear with me if I am a little off. I've found that the Velo's deaden rebounds better than any of the newer models that I have tried, but they really don't compare to how well my older Vaughn performed in this regard. I will never go back. But as a general rule (there are exceptions to everything) the old pads with rolls kill rebounds better. That is why some goalies (Toskala, Hasek, etc) still have rolls on their pads despite how much heavier they are.
