I never had the visions, I had the Legacy pads that came before that, so I cant comment with certainty. My Legacy pads deadened rebounds slightly more effectively. That said I think the Velos are one of the better modern pads for Hybrids (or folks like Nabakov wouldnt use them). But they wont be the same.
To answer your question, I found that all of my old save selections were effective using these pads. I half-flied, and two pad stacked till my heart was content without feeling like the pads were hindering me. But after a while I changed my save selection to use the features that my new pads offered. The pads will work for almost anything I tried, but whether you will like them more than your old pads I cant say. I am not switching back.....
