I agree that the programs you are describing are probably not the best way to combat discrimination because it IS discrimination. The problem is that it focuses on symptoms of a problem rather than addressing the problem itself (namely educational shortfalls in K-12 in areas with a lower socio-economic level). This leads to people such as yourself being passed over and preferential treatment being given to someone else based on their race (though supporters of "affirmative action" programs would say it isn't ONLY based on race, but it seems to end up boiling down to the same thing). I think in the long term they might be beneficial, but do the means justify the ends?

But to say that it is "like one of the worst things ever" is a bit of an exaggeration, don't you think? Go to a library and see if they have a copy of "The Color of Fear" (documentary), and weigh the themes in that film versus having college loans to pay off. I'm not saying it will make any discrimination you or any of us in the "majority" face any easier, but it might provide some perspective.
