hate guys on the team touching my gear. Trying on the gloves, massive D-men picking up my leg pads and saying "geez you're awfully short, har har har", playing with my stick. I'm really picky about my equipment and the last thing I need is random skaters rifling through it for their own amusement.
Slapshots in horseshoe warmup. Jesus Christ, I've
just gotten on the ice, WHY are you trying to kill me? A guy hit me square in the throat with a slapshot during the first warmup of a match a couple of months ago and sent me to hospital.
Opposing forwards who hack at my hands and wrists when I cover the puck. I'm not a professional, neither are you. We both have jobs. I'd like to go to my job with both of my hands tomorrow.
When I let a goal in and a defender skates up to me and says "You should have dropped quicker". NO, REALLY?! Well DONE Mr Holmes.
Referees who don't stop the play when I get hit in the face by a direct shot. If I'm hit by a light deflection or something, I don't expect a whistle. But recently I was hit square between the eyes by a wild shot while down on my knees, hard enough to actually knock me back into the goal. No whistle, the puck bounced into the net and a goal was awarded.
