Update as promised. I tried a free class at True Fighters Academy and am completely sold on it. I go once a week (can't make the Friday night classes) on Wednesday's. It's amazing what just a few simple things can do for your technique and power.
I've signed up for the next month, and have been to 2 classes. The workouts are ridiculously intense, and the instructor (Saeed) has been really helpful yet strict. I think this sort of discipline will really help to translate over to ice. Basically the class is: 10 minute warmup, 10-15 minutes of ridiculously painful stretching, 30-40 minutes of instruction and class, 10 minute Hard cool down.
I'll update again in awhile, see how things are going then.
