As expected, Bandits 5th annual Power Skating and Puck Handling clinic was another major success. This clinic runs two days a week for 4 straight weeks. With over 65 goalies in attendance each week, each goalie learned proper techniques used when playing the puck, specific edge work, power skating and conditioning drills. Each year this camp receives great reviews from parents, coaches and goalies for the detailed instruction that's goes on during the 4 week period.
Below are a handful of pictures from the clinic:
The crew: Jimmy Blanchard, Matt Swanson, Stan Matwijiw, Jimmy Hamby and Joe Messina
Detailed instruction is always key when learning to play the puck with confidence!
Showing specific examples to students is always key when teaching!
Doing edge work drills (sliding butterflies while stationary, moving forwards, backwards and laterally with a partner is always a challenge but now throw racquetballs into the mix makes it even more interesting!!
Remember to play KISS when playing the puck: (Keep It Simple Stupid) - make the easy play.
