Private Lesson - Chris Osgood (Detroit Red Wings)

Below is video footage of Chris Osgood of the Detroit Red Wings training with Bandits Goalie School owner/director Stan Matwijiw at Joe Louis Arena on September 9, 2008.

Since the NHL lockout a few years back, Ozzy has taken it upon himself to reinvent his overall game and to ultimately become a true student of the game.

Some articles about his recent style overhaul with the help of Bandits Goalie School:

I've been using Ozzie as an example recently. I'm training a 16 yr old Midget AAA goalie who plays exactly like Ozzie used to, he even wears a player helmet combo. I showed him the articles and I will show him this video b/c he is so old school, which is actually pretty refreshing and makes you really think about the game...

Thanks for the vid.

Wellsie

He is a completely different goaltender than the one who won the Cup in 1998. He has better body control and his moves are much more deliberate now.

he's also an all around good human being. i've always thought he was so so so so under appreciated even in his old style.

He's got a very strong base and shuffle. Not once did he need to compensate by over stretching the pads or gloves...always square.

Nice
