Classifieds Suggestions
It has come to the attention that this section needs an overhaul. Now since the kids couldn't keep the original one on track (sorry numbah), discuss here. Do not get this one off track again.

My suggestions:
1 - A sub-forum for eBay finds. Requirement: post only auctions you find, not your auctions. Your auctions stay in the normal forum. Example: We had THREE threads about the white TPS pants auction. I know it gets tough to keep track with all the bumps and feeler threads (more on that in a sec), but if there was a sub-forum just for finds to help other members out, it might help.
2 - A "feeler forum". I'm not in favor of feeler threads, but if they had their own forum, go right ahead and post all you want. Maybe someone is looking to see if they can sell their pads before ordering new ones. They do serve a purpose, but this isn't the Kelley Blue Book of goaltending either. I get a feeling that some of the feeler threads are just for bragging right so they can say "I did these mods to these pads and now they're worth $X instead of $Y".
3 - Maybe moderate the posts in said forum. Have someone approve the posts before they are visable, or at least the first post to ensure that all info usually required (size, color, condition, price, mods, etc.) is there before clouding up the forum.
That's all that comes to mind. The Classified were my pet peeve over at Civil Goalies when that board was up and running, so I feel your pain DC.

I think it is reasonable to expect from people who are trying to sell their gear:
An appropriately descriptive title
FS: _ _ _ _ _ (For Sale)
FS/FT: _ _ _ _ _ (For Sale/Trade)
WTB: _ _ _ _ _ (Want to Buy)
WTT: _ _ _ _ _ (Want to Trade)
Within the thread, we should have a section/field for:
Description
Condition
Price (detail if OBO)
Pictures
That would not seem like too much to ask for. If ads were lacking the above then they could be PM'd to change the ad appropriately by mods/members within one day or have their ad removed. If they don't comply after the one day, the ad is removed.
I also think that bumps that take place less sooner than 24 hours deserve a warning and then a deletion of the thread if such action continues.
My issues are with ebay sales.
1) I sell gear via eBay and I post it here, but without a price. After all, I am letting the open market on ebay decide the price. Can we still post it here and on ebay without a price? I'll follow the rules either way, I would just like to know what they are.
2) If I see a great item for sale on ebay with a cheap buy it now and I know members here have been looking for such an item, can I post it? Should it go in the Equipment/Hot Stove Forum. It has happened a few times that members have been kind enough to alert others of some great deals on ebay. What should be their place?
3) Funny/strange ebay auctions. Do they have a place anywhere or should they not be allowed at all?
Well, that's my contribution, hope that starts things off.

I definately like the idea of requiring prefixes on thread titles, I had the same idea before.
FS: BEEBOX W/W/W 34
Would let someone know off the bat what the thread is going to contain.
One pain that really gets me, is seeing a FS and a WTB thread on top of each other, over the same item. I don't know what system can be put in place to open people's eyes.

I don't think if you're listing YOUR eBay auction that you need to post a price, unless you choose to post the reserve price, stating you'll end the auction early for a BB member at that price. (Not saying you have to do this, but some have chosen to do so in the past.)

In my proposed sub-forum.

Equipment related - put them in proposed sub-forum. Non gear related - Hot Stove.

All good responses.
Now is there a chance this change will actually happen? I know it's probably a lot of work for you guys (mods and Sean) but it would be nice to see some positive changes take place.

How about before anyone is allowed to join and post from now on, they have to submit to an IQ test.

I'm not singling you out because many people do that here but you said it yourself, you sell via eBay. It's not here to buy now is it? If I want to buy something on eBay then I will go search eBay.
Any item that starts here and moves over to eBay to sell should have the thread deleted.

I realize you are not singling me out....so no worries.
Here's the flip-side though and I'll use myself as an example. I don't think I have ever started one here and then put it on ebay. It has always been an ebay ad and then here. Two times, I ended the auction because people here made me some very fair offers. Saves me on ebay fees and gets the member the item they wanted but without the hassle of a bidding war and such. That's why I think it does help to post it here.
But if people don't want those here that's fine by me. As long as the rules are explicit in what is and isn't allowed I am happy to follow them to the letter.

Regarding eBay ads... a one time post is plenty. Anyone who is interested will watch it via eBay. Bumping and multipld posts about it here are uneccessary.
Regarding classifieds, not only a format, but a LIMIT as to how much text and picture sizes. We don't need 15 pictures of your gear to know oif we are going to be interested in it.
Regarding Hans, bite me.
Not to be nasty, but my meds are kicking in again. (I have a nasty sinus infection going... if I stop typ................
There is a format to fillout for your profile, and others view your profile as such. Same as polls. There's a format that is followed, and any responses are in the same format as the rest of the board. I don't think it is that difficult to do, we just need to come up with a template that works and is easy to fill out.

I posted a solution in the other thread.
If you want I'll even implement it for you.

what about...?
I see nothing wrong with posting a notice of one's own eBay item. Just a few suggestions:
Don't bump it.
Offer some sort of special consideration for fellow GSBBers (free or reduced shipping, ending the auction at a specified price, for example).
Or, rather than posting our own auctions here, we could all add the text "GSBB" somewhere in our eBay item listings. Then others could do an eBay search for "GSBB," and know that the seller is a fellow GSBBer. It'd be easy enough to add to "my searches."

Sorry I was gone for the weekend. As far as implementing predefined fields, Sean would have to do that work. Until that happens, a good "template" should be defined.
