The new system feels a lot less "personal". In the old classifieds forum, people would often discuss gear that gathered interest. Now, there's just a bunch of ads like on ebay. I used to visit the old classifieds even when i wasn't looking for stuff to buy, because it was interesting to browse.

With all due respect, the classifieds section isn't a place to discuss anything, and if you have a question about gear posted there, you can ask all the questions you want.

Not that anyone GAS what I think....but....
I like the new classifieds. I like the layout, I like how everything is pretty well divided up, I like all of it. Easy to navigate, I don't have to look through 2 pages of junior pads to get to a set that might fit me...easy stuff.
I hated the old classifieds, mostly because of the way I surf the board. Unless I'm looking for something specific, I just open the board up & click on "New Posts" to check out what's going on. With the old classifieds, there were always "BUMP!" and "Hey, do those pads include black toe-ties or white toe-ties??" and "OMG those would be perfect for me if only they were white and 38+4 and cheaper and beeroxorz!!!!!" clogging up the front page. Now there's none of that junk, just classifieds.
I wish that when someone clicked "SOLD!" on their ad it would move the ad to the back of the bus. I hate seeing what I missed!

Not really - guys may be selling gloves and pads, but willing to sell separately. By grouping pads and gloves, you eliminate three categories that in all actuality belong together: pads, gloves, and sets.
And it's not that hard to tell the difference between a c/a and a pair of pants when browsing.
There aren't so many things for sale that they have to each have their own special place.

Ya know, you can change how you view it if you enjoy all the confusion.... just click "VIEW ALL ADS". That should keep you busy for awhile.

It ALREADY keeps you too busy to be useful. It was way better when newly posted items showed up as new posts so you could quickly scan the titles of all threads (classifieds or not). That way, if you were not specifically looking for anything, but all of a sudden something really cool was for sale, you saw it right away.
Old classieds = good.
New classifieds = suck.

If you want to casually BROWSE then I suggest you go to ebay and do it to your heart's content. For those who are actually SHOPPING, it's much better this way. Looking for a mask? Go to masks. Looking for a C/A? Go to C/A's.
Want to browse looking for something "cool"? Go to ebay and have at it.
Also, if you want to see what ads are new, all of them are at the bottom of the main classifieds page.... see "Recent Ads". It's right there.

How do I get "recent ads" and "new posts" to show up together, all in chronological order. You know, ONE step, ONE place to go for everything, the good way it used to be, rather than the ****fest that it is now?

I don't know about new posts in every ad, but that's kind of pointless isn't it?
As far as new ads, the "recent ads" looks to be in chronological order already.
I get what you are saying about browsing and such, but... this IS a place to sell gear. If you want to chit chat about something for sale, the ads aren't the place to do it.
Can you imagine what it would be like if all of the hockey gear on ebay was assembled in the manner you are describing? Sorting through all that crap to find something you are looking for specifically? Ugh.
People are paying for the ads now, so keeping them clutter free of "wow, those are neat pads" and "I have that same mask! I love it!" is appreciated.
My only beef with the classifieds, and it was the same before, is that the sellers don't always update their ads when something is already sold. But that's nothing that software can fix.

Said the same damn thing. The old system was awesome. The new system is too store like. Sometimes people just like to browse and impulse buy. It's tough to impulse buy when you have to click ten pages... see two things that you'd like that were sold on ebay or locally 8 months ago.

Kind of annoying to edit your posts to show that something has been sold to see your post disapear for a day and a half until it gets approved. That's a possible sale you lost since someone might cruise the listings every 4-5 months.
The old system was much better.

That was one of the best parts of the old system, direct and immediate conversation about the items not only with the seller, but with other members who might know more about the item than even the seller does.

I tried putting my son's pads and catch glover up for sale. It took about 6 weeks to get approved, then showed up as "best offer" and "sold" but was so old it didn't get displayed anyway.
Only way to find it is to search for my name:
http://www.goaliestore.com/board/Cla...p?product=2626
and no, they have not been sold. Still have for sale.
