GSBB App

How about a simplified version of the GSBB (large print, just threads maybe, etc) with the ability to download an entire thread to read say, on a plane, although you would have to have the option to just download certain pages if you downloading something like the gear sightings.

Anybody know who could do this

Without direct access to the database that contains all the posts, it's really hard to write that kind of app. It can be done, but not easily.

An alternative is to get a site sucker, which crawls the site and downloads pages. These are available as shareware and freeware for Mac and Windows. You'll want one that can limit which links it follows because you don't want to download the entire site. The result is a folder that contains static html pages that you can then open in a browser and navigate as though they were the site.

Wish there was an easy way to make an iPhone app for the GSbb!

I used this application in the past: HTTrack Website Copier - Offline Browser

It downloads an entire site, and has a decent amount of options for what it downloads, how deep into the site it downloads, if it should download off-site links / images, etc.

About five years ago I was downloading news sites and they would take up around 500MB - 1GB. Back then that was a decent chunk of size, nowadays that's barely a drop in the pail.

But yes, I would love a mobile view as well. Although with all the pictures in the threads I don't know how well that'd work on most phones. I guess it really depends on how they're handled... facebook mobile butchers pictures, but pictures from TSN.ca look nice and crisp.

I have a feeling it would be a drain on bandwidth and cost to have people downloading a chunck of the site.

Try this:

http://www.goaliestore.com/board/external.php?type=RSS2

GSBB has an RSS feed.

Maybe not exactly what you're looking for but it's something...

How about this?

vBulletin BlackBerry App | BerryBlab.com

crackberry.com uses it for the site and it renders it nicely for the Blackberry.

There is..

Tapatalk - iPhone Android Nokia forum app for vBulletin and phpBB

It requires a module to be installed in Vbulletin. I use it for acouple of other boards on my Android phone and love it.. There's an Iphone version as well.

love the layout, but how about...
1..a way to set your post preferences automatically...
2.. a way to get rid of all the dead photo links in posts, it's really distracting to have to scroll through a million re x's and photo bucket not found logo's to find the txt...

Why isn't GSBB listed on tapatalk? I just downloaded the app and searched for it but it's not there.

Tapatalk requires the board to be running vBulletin 3.7 or above and the board is only on 3.6.8 right now. If it ever upgrades to the next update and enables Tapatalk, I'll pay for the app.

^^ +1

I would love to be able to lay in bed on here...the ultimate luxury! And if downloads are availible it will be great to be able to download all threads before you go on a plane and read them there.
