Topic Creep in Equipment Fora
Here are the descriptions of the two forums:
Equipment Reviews
Little banter, no "what is Trevor wearing now?". Just real honest reviews of the tools we use in our craft.
Equipment Forum
Questions or comments about equipment that you're wearing, that you've seen on the market, or that you saw Gerry Cheevers wearing 25 years ago.
Now for most of us with fairly good reading comprehension, it's clear enough from the titles that reviews of specific brands and models of equipment go into Equipment Reviews while articles and questions of a more general nature should go into the Equpment Forum.
However, it's also clear that some people just don't get it, and all sorts of general handwavy equipment questions are ending up in the Equpment Reviews section.
As a solution, I would suggest a change to the descriptive text for these two sections:
Equipment Reviews
Real honest reviews of specific brands and models of equipment. No banter, no "What are the best pads?" or "What stick should I get?"
Equipment Forum
General questions or comments about equipment that you're wearing, you've seen on the market, or you saw Gerry Cheevers wearing 25 years ago.

Well said timber, I couldn't agree more.
Aren't we supposed to have some people who are moderating these kinds of things, who can move the topics over to their proper fora?
(Excellent word BTW, it may be short, but I still give you at least 2 points for it)

Timber,
Thank you. I couldn't agree with you more. I have also noticed this evil little trend and have posted several times opposing it.

And when we get this problem licked, we'll start stamping out other insidious insults to the English language, such as irresponsibly verbing nouns, saying "orientated," misspelling {there | their | they're}, and saying "liable" when one means "likely."

Jeez, you guys!
Timber and chubs, now you've gone and hurt my feelings. I'm always embarassed when I don't catch my misspellings and I do know a contraction from a possessive form. But, I've just got a mental block when it comes to "it's." It's my handicap, my disability. Could someone explain the rules for "its, it's and its' " once and for all? I'll print it out and carry it on a card in my wallet. Thanks for the help.

The rules for It.
I can't get this to format right...
singular possessive contraction
-------- ---------- -----------
she - her hers she is -> she's
he - him his he is -> he's
it - it its it is -> it's
who - whom whose who is -> who's
There are patterns to remember:
who/whom is just like he/him.
its/it's is just like his/he's.

Okay, I'm a little confused here.
I've gotten through about 10 pages and moved all the "Reviews" to the Equipment Reviews forum. However, do we consider someone posting JUST pictures of their new gear (w/o an actual "review") a gear review or just a run of the mill Equipment Forum post.
Please let me know, everyone. I'll go back and get the ones I missed if I have to, no problem.

By the way, going through 4500 threads is going to be a major pain in the ass, so don't expect me to get it all done in a day. It may take me a week or so.

I'd still consider that a review of sorts.
