Question Searching

When I go to do a search and type in a 3 character term it doesn't let me perform the search.

Example:

"Koho 570 goal stick" is not allowed because 570 is less than 4 characters.

Is there any way that this can be changed? If not is there some way I can "cheat" and get around it?

I may be wrong here but I beleive if you put an asterix behind the 3 letter word it will work eg. koho 570* stick

Except that thread didn't have a solution so in fact this thread was usefull as the other one just stated a problem.

No, he just have just bumped up the old thread! This way the BB just gets cluttered.

So if a person searches for this exact same topic, he'll get two threads, only one of which has answer. Had MillerT bumped up the old thread, the answer-seaker would find one thread with the answer.

Of course, it's no big deal, just explaining the logic behind my statement.

Quotint strings doesn't seem to help. Is there any way to force the search to a phrase? I suppose using * instead of spaces might work.

The correct fix would be for the BBS programmers to make a list of stop-words that by default don't get indexed or used in searches. It's more accurate and effective than the arbitrary three-letter limit. There are plenty of three-letter words that are significant in searches. (Like "Cat.") I know about this stuff because I once worked on a text indexing and retrieval software application.
