Its not the number of shots is the quality of the shots taken. No one like getting 10 slapshots from the slot in the same game. Personally i preffer playing is a league situation with players who a decent calibler. Im not a great goalie and i find when im playing with guys who are serious about playing d and force the shooters to have to let the put go at the top of the circle, instead of letting then go wide and cut back infront of the net for a quick post to post slide. I would rather take 40 shots from outside then take 10 from a guy who is wide open infront because 3 guys cahsed to the corner and left 2 guys open infront.
I play twice a week, one is decent league play, and face 20-40 shots a game and ususally keep the score under 5. My other game is pick up with guys who arn't so skilled, and the defence backs in so far they end up screening me or tipping in shots and rebouds. The shooter are allowed to come in real close and then release, how frustrating. I usually get 30-50 shots in this game and the score is ususally 6-8 goals, the second half of the game is all odd man rushed becase the forward are too tired to come back and help they wait around the blue-red line for the break out pass.
