Stat Tracking

www.goaliestore.com/stattrak.htm

I have finally finished (I hope) the simple stats tracking application that I have been working on for a while. Certainly nothing earthshaking, it just allows you to enter and store game information and generates your Goals against and Save Percentage for you. I hope it is of convenience to some of you.

Thank you to several of the board members that I approached for preliminary testing. My apologies for pointing some of you in the wrong direction, but I ended up getting some helpful feedback which I have tried to incorporate.

Before I link it to the Main Goalie Store site, I invite other board mebers to test it out and let me know how it works for you. Feedback is appreciated, and can be sent to me at bhaywood@goaliestore.com

Thanks.

One suggestion though... Not everyone plays 60 minute games. Maybe when you make a team, you could select gamelength.

Most roller hockey leagues play 45 minute games, like mine. I have to put 60 minutes in as playing time so it doesnt screw up my goals against.

Excellent point, gullwing. I think Brett, being a die-hard "ICE-never-demote-to-roller" type of guy he may have overlooked that.

I don't know of any inline leagues that don't play 45 minutes Back to the drawing board Brett!

Then again, playing roller hockey in an ice hockey world is like being left handed, I guess.

This was pointed out to me earlier today by a user and I intend to fix it tonight. Hopefully it won't take too much time at the drawing board. Aside from roller hockey, I overlooked that many Youth Hockey games get shortened as well from 60 minutes.

Assuming that I don't run into any major problems, look for a fix tommorrow. Sorry for the inconvenience.

I believe I have corrected this problem. Please check out and confirm.

By default, I have assigned every existing team entry a 60 minute game length, but this can be changed by editing your Team list.

When adding or editing a team listing, you can now modify the length of games.

Hello,
I have had this site bookmarked for quite some time now. But I don't look at it very often. Since last time, there looks like there has been some BIG improvements.
Just for introduction, my 13 yr old son plays and has been in net since he was 6.
2 questions.
1) Where can I find the stats tracker?
2) What exactly is logged as a Shot On Goal?
I think that if the goalie catches or blocks a shot above the cross bar, or outside of the posts, it is not a shot.
I was recently at a Ducks game, and Herbert caught one high, and it was posted as a shot.
TIA for any input. -Chris-

The RULES state that it is only a shot if it would have gone in the net had the goalie not been there. BUT, the "official" shots on goal are often skewed. The home team wants to look like they are good for the home crowd, and pad their shot totals. Also, teams with one of the marquee top 5 or 10 goalies pad his number of saves to make him look better too. Hasek, Cujo, and Roy, for instance, don't face nearly as many shots as the official stats say they do. As a result, their save percentages are pretty much bogus. What you observed with Hebert is one of the ways they get away with this. So is counting a poke check, even though the puck wasn't even shot yet. Next time you watch a Sabres game on TV (or if they come to town), count the shots that really hit the net, then compare to the official shots at the end of the game. Hasek usually gets credited for at least 5 phantom saves per game.

Have you thought of including something in the Stat Tracker that will compile your W-L-T record? I know you can probably just count for yourself, but isn't that the entire point of the Stat Tracker. Also, what constitues a no-decision?

Good point on the W-L-T, I'd like to see that at the top of the page too. As far as no decision goes, Imagine this:

You start the game and you suck. You let in 3 goals on 4 shots and get pulled in the first. Your backup steps in and plays stellar, letting in no goals while your team comes back to win 4-3. The backup gets credit with a win, but not a shutout, and you get no decision for your minutes played. This is because you had no part in the victory, since you were losing when you left the game.
