Me ole' slideboard
This, is my home made slide board, 7 ft. by 3 ft. I use armorall spray and then let it dry. I have the wood screwed on by screws, and I use pad covers and old shoes and practice my bfly slides around 1 1/2 hours a day, everyday. I am no pro but it DEFINENTLY helps! I can now go both ways while sliding. All you need to build this is: 8x3' peice of melamine(I got the 1/2 inch thick, more than enough) Drill, 8 2 inch screws(2 for each side of the wood. 2 or 4 peices of 2x4 3 feet long, some armorall and a rag to wipe it around, and depending if you wanna do fly slides, then pad covers or just booties. You can get the booties from G1 or hockeyshot.com same as the pad covers, I also use the leg pad covers for roller.

only about 40 bucks cus the guy at the till didnt charge me for the board of melamine. I scored a pretty good deal, and it works good, but I dont use it much now that I play alot of hockey on 4 diff teams, my slides are much better than before.

I used melamine with no bad results, except heavy. Try plexi and see how it works, experimenting is the best!!

well, if i didnt add the stoppers, i would slide right off the board! It really helps you learn how to slide technically, and how to do it properly if you watch yourself in the mirror, you can correct what you are doing wrong. That's what I did and it worked excellently. I still cant go right to left as well as I want, but everything takes time.

pillow cases.
Before i decided to build a slideboard, i used, umm............heh.......heh......... my mothers silk pillowcases. cut them open, put slices in them for the straps. I was grounded for a month. Worked fairly well, could slide ok, still took alot of work though. Hopefully they will be great in the slideboard

Do you have to use pad covers. I tried without pad covers and I cant slide!
