Fast Morning Pickup League in DC
Hey All,
The Metropolitan Hockey League is an organized pickup league playing at Fort DuPont Ice Area in Washington DC. We are currently wrapping up our summer session and are preparing for 3 days a week in the fall and winter. We skate at 7 AM on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays.
I've played goalie for this league for, gosh, 8 years now. The quality of play is very good, and a skating manager is dedicated to each day to ensure equal teams and full benches. Friday games especially are very fast. Goalies get good defensive support, you will see alot of rubber, but the players are not indifferent to their goalies. This is definately a step up from your standard pickup. Some of the centers are particularly defensive-minded.
If anyone reading this is interested in playing, goalies play for free, and there's a dedicated goalie manager to arrange schedules. Regular slots are available (for example you can set up to play every Monday), or you can choose to be "on call" to fill in here and there.
