Remedies for a rung bell...
Im sure theres a thread about this somewhere, I did a search and found nothing all that pertinent.
I was playing tonight and theres one guy that I play with every Saturday who has a cannon of a shot and he always goes low glove side from just over the blue line with a hard slapshot.
So he comes in and takes step over the line so I come out to him and he keeps coming in even closer than usual and I drop as hes about to shoot thinking it was coming it low glove side as usual but he went higher and it got me right in the forehead, I saw stars and fell backwards, I didnt get knocked out, just didnt know what was what for a splity second and had a good hum going on in my melon.
So I sat up and the dude that hit me is all concerned and apologizing to me, so I ask, wheres the puck? And he said "in your glove" haha apparently it hit my head, hit the roof (the roof is only about 15-18 feet, its a smaller than normal rink) and fell in my glove as I fell back. Thats luck I guess.
But anyways, anyone got any remedies for a rung bell? And in case anyone's wondering, I use an NXI phantom and Ive taken a lot of shots in the head but an 85 mph slapshot from like 20 ft out is another story.

You don't have to be unconscious to have been concussed. However, if you feel fine tomorrow morning and throughout the rest of the day tomorrow you should be fine.
I'd also check your mask if the shooter damaged any part of it.

Generally, the symptoms of a concussion may include headaches, nausea, and dizziness. The migraine you're having now is not a good sign, but you'll want to see if you can sleep it off.

I dont recommend sleeping. Actually, you should be going to the emergency room immediately for any type of head trauma to make sure there is no swelling / internal bleeding of the brain. A good indicator is your pupils. Check to see if they are dilated, unequallly opened on both sides, or abnormal response to light in other words, not contracting when exposed to light.

My experience
When I got mine last year it was a severe pain behind the eyes the next day and for a couple days after that. Luckily we did have an actual Neurologist on the team I was playing on and he told me if it didn't go away after a couple days or if it got worse to see him.
As stated by MyassesHam (great nick btw) generally look for headache, nausea and dizziness. Also remember there are several grades of concussion. Here are a couple things Webmd.com has to say about them:
From an Overview of Concussions:
"A concussion is a brain injury that is caused by a sudden blow to the head or to the body. The blow shakes the brain inside the skull, which temporarily prevents the brain from working normally.
Some people have obvious symptoms of a concussion (such as passing out or feeling lightheaded), while others do not. With rest, most people fully recover from concussions within a few hours to a few weeks"
From Sports Concussions: New Guidelines issued:
"Signs of concussion include: changing levels of consciousness, balance problems, memory and concentration difficulties, headache, ringing in the ears, and nausea."
Those are the general things you should look for. In my case I had a grade 2 (mid level) concussion and the headache last about 5 days. In my case I also had nausea the next day and that is when I called the Doc.
Is anyone on here qualified to tell you medically what to do? Not that I am aware of, but there may be a Neurologist goalie out there on this board I am in no way qualified to tell you what to do. I can only relate my experience and what I was told by the Doc.
Best advice I could give call your Doctors office or get your ass to the ER. It will be worth any incidental cost. I mean come on it is your BRAIN, do NOT get cheap here.

Dude.. call your team and tell them you are out for at least a week minimum. And that is if the doctors don't find anything. One problem with cuncussions is they are cumulative. If you have this one.. and you go out tonight and play and for some bizarre reason get hit hard or whatever, the next one will be WORSE.

I was experiencing headache, nausea, and ringing of the ears after reading the "Peace. Out." thread. I think I might have a concussion.
And I would second OldGoalie's advice- take the night off.You won't be doing yourself, or your team, and favors if you are seeing more than one puck out there (unless, of course, you think you can stop them all )

Ty,
Take the night off for real. Listen to the previous posters, they have some great advice. If you experience any of the previously stated symptoms, go to the hospital immediately.
I trust you were playing at the barn? At least you made the save, even though it was with your head.
