The drill he does at 1 minute is called Push and stop its a technique that Lundqvists uses, Gerber, and a swedish goalie in the swedish leauge called Daniel henriksson

He moves well, but his catch glove seems to be facing downward all the time. I know it just drills but he might want to keep it up a bit.

It's a standard skating pattern used universally...
The 'kid' moves well. I like the precision he uses when stopping on his outside edges, you can see the power generated by the way he is shredding the ice. His pendulum slides are quite nice but I agree that his glove positioning while moving is suspect... that's a fairly easy adjustment though...
Nice video.

You have to stop on the outside leg. How else can you change directions. If you two foot stop before you change direcections, you'll become very good at fishing the puck out of your own net.

Needs to swivel head
I'm just a dumb schlub but shouldn't a goalie of this level be performing a head swivel PRIOR to turning his body and moving on all of these positional changes?
My understanding is head/visual awareness comes first.

Good catch. He's not turning his head first to follow the simulated puck movement.

Loved it! All the things i need to work on when/if given the chance.
One thing that i just realized...the C cut is used to redirect and momentum towards point B, but doesn't doing the C cut in itself take away that 1-2 seconds you need to get to point B? The same principal as when you raise the wrong leg to recover from the b-fly, you lose time.

It doesn't look like he is ready to stop a puck at any point. He is so methodical in his movements that he seems to forget the purpose of moving. He never gets set into a stance or makes a save at the end of his movement, its always right into the next one. This attitude becomes very apparent when it comes time to make the butterfly saves where he slowly places his knees on the ice instead of driving them down. Being a butterfly based goalie you would think that this part of the routine would get a little attention. When I am teaching my guys, its is always moving in your ready stance so when they stop they are ready to make a save or move in any direction, they aren't just thinking about the next move in the routine. Every butterfly is fast and they drive their knees down, especially when simulating a save. Its not just about getting the drill done its about doing it with intensity the whole way through.
