I just used:
1 - 4x8 OSB board
1 - 4x8 flat tile board
1 - 2x4x8
I am the opposite of you in that I have powerful legs, but a recurring hip/groin problem. Do you have any padding on the 2x4s? Do you need something on the bottom to keep it from sliding?

blacksv1,

I bought one of these today. I was skeptical, but if Jukka Ropponen endorses it 32 times there is nothing more to be said.

Anyone see the Stretch-A-Flex photos from Jukka's training camp:

GoaliePro.com - Leirin 2008 kuvasatoa

I am interested to see Jukka's routine for his students.

Well, I just ordered mine based on all the rave reviews here on this site and the fact that it's being used in a goalie school. We'll see how that goes!!

Butterfly Stretch

A couple of members have PM'd me about some of the stretches I do including the butterfly. I follow the routine that that Shaun emails at your request. The butterfly stretch has really worked especially well for me, even though I am almost 40:
shaun@stretchaflex.com

Good luck...

Yeah, he sent me the instructions really quick after I requested it. Now I'm waiting for the Stretaflex to arrive at my door to put that into practice. He shipped my package within hours of ordering the kit.

I have now incorporated S-A-F as part of the training program for the pro's that I work with. Minnesota's Bäckströn and Zurichs Sulander started using the device last week and I am also getting one for Blue Jackets Norrena as I just started to work with him as well.

I truly believe in this device and concept. I am also working on developing effective goalie focused routines for SAF.

Jukka

Well I got my confirmation email. Looks like me email provider was labeling Shaun's email as spam. LOL. Can't wait till it gets here.

mine came in today. did my first workout. i was pretty impressed. it targeted the legs and core very effectively. i was surprised how good of a stretch i got on my quads. made it seem like they had never even been stretched before. i'll let you all know when i can do a full split. if i can do this 3 times a week and have it be more effective than my current 10-14 short sessions a week then i'd say its money well spent.

I made my own slide board as you did and it works great. I glued the tile board to a 3/8" sheet of chipboard and screwed on a 2x4 cut in half. A little bit of furniture polish every few uses makes it really slick and does worm up the legs very well before stretching. Thanks for the design. Its a great workout and much less painful than running.
