This ever happen to you?

Last night in a game, we were winning 6-0 and during the third period I tried to play the puck instead of just stopping it and then playing it or clearing as I was attempting to do and for some reason I looked at the opposing player coming toward me. I tried to play the puck and misjudged it and I missed it completely and of course it slowly went in. I couldn't believe, I lost my concentration for that one second and we won but I lost my shutout. I had to laugh it off but has this happened to anyone before?

For one second, I felt like Cloutier and center ice shot that squeaked by him in front the home town crowd against Detroit. I put that thought out of my mind right away
but we all get caught doing some bone head moves but thats got to be my worst.

in my earliest days of goalietending

I went out to play the puck

I got out to the hash marks of the circle.
Put my stick on the ice.

the puck hit it, Changed direction

and went in

Yeah, I've done that in a game. Whenever its coming toward the goal now I put my glove there just to be sure.

Fleury did something similar in the World Juniors.

Tried to play the puck, but it went straight into an opposing player, bounced off him and straight into the net.

You're in elite company.

I week ago, the other team had NO shots in the first period. In the second, they scored on there first and fourth shots both from behind the blue line! I ended up 14 for 16 so it was not that bad...right

Not only have I done the same and re-direction into the net, but also I have actually shot the puck into the net while trying to ring it around the back of the net from the half boards. Stuff happens!

Yeah, I'd rather not say how many times (IF at all ) I may have done that... hypothetically speaking... figuratively.

When I first discovered the GSBB less than a year ago, this thread was one of the first I read here:

Most embarrassing moment of career

Some of them had me ROFLMAOWTIME, and it's hard to pick a winner, but if I had to pick one, I think it would be marvintpa's entry. It's one of the shortest posts in the whole thread, but it delivers the most mental imagery, and even though I've read it a dozen times, I still chuckle each time I read it again..... Most embarrassing moment of career

Stuff like that shouldn't even be allowed to be a Goal. Cut the goalies some slack. Right!?

Same thing happened to me at the beginning of the season. That was the most recent occurance. It has happened before unfortunately. The good thing about this last time I missed was that this time, I had the presence of mind to quickly launch myself towards the goal line and I got that little sucker right on the line. It was embarrassing, but it could have been MORE embarrassing.

A few games ago we were winning 7-0. Puck was coming towards me, 2 of my D were racing the opponent for the puck, I didn't think they were going to win the race so I skated out, took the puck, went to pass it to my D, and she just skated away from me and left me there with the charging opposing player and the puck. I panicked, whiffed on a clearing attempt and in the net it went. Then my D skated back to the bench yelling "THAT WASN'T MY FAULT!" because you know, it never is.

Anyway, I came home, turned on the sports highlights and saw a pro do almost exactly the same thing. Didn't feel so bad anymore.

Happened to me a few weeks ago... oncoming player on a rush I kept contemplating in my head "to pokecheck or not to pokecheck.." and I finally decided I'd go for it, hesitated for too long, went for the poke, MISSED COMPLETELY, and turned around just in time to see her slowly push (not even shoot, push) the puck past the goal line.

I was pissed. It was the first shot I'd had all game (5 mins left in the third). But hey, it happens. And we still won. BUt MAN. I was frustrated.
