Ways to Improve blocker quickness?

All this year I'm getting socred on from the blocker side. I don't let up many goals anywhere else but blocker side so I'm just wondering if there are any ways to decrease the amount of goals on my blocker side (& "stop the puck" isn't the answer i'm looking for)? Are there any ways I can improve my blocker speed?

What kind of stick are you using? A lighter stick might help if youre currently using a heavy stick.
Also, most of the movements for a blocker save come from the triceps and deltoids and some trapezius. Try focusing on these muscle groups if you lift weights.

Are you pulling away from shots? It sounds like a positioning/reaction issue.

It may be an incorrect paddle height or lie for your stance.

If it's neither, weight training may help.

As far as I know, I don't pull away from shots.

& is there a way to tell what lie I should use?
I have a pretty wide stance, & put my blocker pretty low, so maybe that's it?

I am 5' 7" and I had the same issue. I am hybrid and when I B-fly, I find a few pucks were hitting the shaft of my stick or just above the blocker.

I went to a 27" paddle (I know it is long) and it has been working well so far. As long as my blocker is out in front of me I am getting move passive saves. If I need to raise the blocker and my angle is good, it seems to go over the goal.

Of course, this has only been 3 times on ice but I am liking it so far.

It could be sometihng as simple as tracking the puck all the way until it hits the blocker. Thats what i wasn't doing. Now i am doing that and my blocker side and my whole game has improved dramatically

Question:

What is the ideal situation in playing a blocker side shot?
For example, if the shot is from a distance do you push into the blocker save.
Move your body closer to the shot?

Any thoughts on this would be appreciated.

Definitely meet the shot with your blocker... move it out like you are punching it with the back of your hand. This way, you can direct the rebound to the corner. Also, a big point is to WATCH THE PUCK hit your gloves! If you look away or don't follow it all the way to your puck, you may miss it.

Moving your body to assist is also a good idea, depending on the situation.
