Can flaxseed oil be used instead of fish oil or do you need both? I think they are both Omega-3 so I would assume either one is fine. What is Omega-6, why is it important and where is it found?

Both Omega-6 and 3 are essential fatty acids that play a crucial role in brain function, bone, maintaining bone health, regulating metabolism, and maintaining reproductive capability.
Try and keep a good balance of both, in the western diet we generally get too much 6 and not enough 3, which can lead to issues with heart disease and arthritis.
Look for a product that has both, they are not too hard to find in supplement form.

wow a lot of supplements!
stick with the basics to great athletic performance...I would have to say if you are eating balanced meals that take into consideration your activity levels along with BCAA's, L-glutamine (helps with muscle recovery), multi vitamin and Whey protein (when you can't eat a meal within the hour that you finished a workout or a game)...you should be fine.

I forgot to say that my training is way more oriented toward Pro-Wrestling than hockey. But I still stretch a lot more than normal people, not as much as I would like to, but still.

Plus you need fat to burn fat...If your body doesnt get any, it is going to hoard it. But the kicker is you need the good fats as those found in fish, nuts, olive oil, eggs (and the omegas 3, 6 and 9) Not animal fats and such.

Daily:
Omega 3 fish oil. I use one that has a minimum of 50% concentration, and I take 4-6 of these a day.
Japanese Green Tea. Real tea leaves, bought at an asian market, not some supermarket tea bags where you have no idea what you really got. At least 4 cups a day.
A multi-vitamin/multi-mineral, plus 1000mg vit C, 1000mg vit D, a calcium/magnesium/potassium combo tablet.
Creatine and Glutamine, 5-10g ea/day.
Before a workout:
Caffeine/Ephedrine/Aspirin
After a workout:
Whey protein.

Occasional protein shake...and a multivitamin a day.
Does anyone else not think it is weird that you guys are all putting the vast range of chemicals in your body from unnatural sources? Do you really think that long term....this is good for you?
I don't know about you guys....but I am able to perform at high levels for long periods of time, through out the course of a day without anything other than the multivitamin and a decent diet. Case in point...yesterday, I was up at 6am. Did the P90X yoga dvd. Went to work, at lunch did the P90X shoulders/bi/tri DVD, one hour of goaltending instruction, and back to back games of around a 30 save effort in each, without having dinner and still was able to only give up 5 goals total for the night and went 1-0-1 and I feel fine this morning because I properly hydrated and ate a banana when I got home......Oh and I am about to head downstairs to the gym to do P90X Legs/Back.
Honestly guys...we're just beer leaguers and schleps. With the exception of Chakal who wrestles and needs to have that physique, does anyone here really need this stuff??? Think about it and how much money you're wasting on something that odds are you mostly just pee out within a few hours.

I take a daily mutilvitamin and a sustained release glucosomine combo pill. I try to keep my coffee to 2 cups per day and everything else is water.
I feel fine, I dont really need much else, though I do feel as though I should read up on Salmon Oil/Omega 3s.
I'm cautiously with Sloth on this one. Some people that are training hard do need this kind of stuff. I'm considering cutting my BF% and starting to do sprint triathlons, if I do this, I'll probably start taking more supp's, primarily in the form of whey protein and the like.
If you're an adult just playing hockey and working out to stay in regular shape, you probably don't need much more than what I'm taking, unless you are anemic or something.

Of course you'll need to go at the gym and have intense workouts everyday (except for the week-end). Training to gain mass is easier for me. It's easy, I train for 1 hour but always using the max weight you can put on on every set. Short sets of 6-8 reps per exercise.
You need to shock your muscle and rip those fibers.
