Update!

Well I just received a call from the coach
He was away on a sudden call out for w.e. it was and couldn't tell me untill now...
I made the U18 Split-Season Midget AAA team (I failed to mention I tried out for both)
He previously state there wouldn't be enough players to form a team but they were hand-picking guys at other sports and calling previous players

Still stuck in HS for the 2nd half of the year but now I get to play up an age group for the first half. At least this way I can get my foot in the door somehow with the organization

Thanks for the advice I'm glad I called and left that message

Is it the Springfield Falcons your talkin about? if so they're pretty good. I played their midget u16 team in the fall w/ southern and their u14 team 2 years ago with mid-fairfield and they were both pretty competitive teams(they were the same group of kids that just moved up an age group). Either way congrats.

There were some kids from Fermi at tryouts that were a head above anybody on my HS squad. The U16 team will be the 93 team basically.

I wanted to go out for MF but my rents wont drive me an hour+ out of the way
Thanks

The Marlboro shot is like a mugshot, you never fully expect it. Mine was on the bench last year right next to the photographer.

Have you seen the minor 2 team? Holy **** they have the worst 2 goalies McMorrow and that kid in the all white 7.8s who was the worst at tryouts. WTF is with that organization eh?

I did get a chance to see a little bit of the minor practice after ours while I was getting my skates done, but all I saw was that kid with the black/blue/white rbk's. He seemed pretty decent from what I saw. Didn't you say he plays junior B or something?

Yeah I know Sammy Page. I did a high school readiness camp with him back in November. He's pretty decent. I don't know the other kids though..

Why are the tryouts in the spring?

What is this "split-season squad"?

Teams now do tryouts in the spring so they are all ready and set to play in the fall when the season starts.

and

Split season is only done in midget hockey where you play the fall and then all the kids leave to play for the high school for the winter and then come back during the spring to finish the season.

Youth tryouts are in the spring so after signing parents and families can take summer vacations, go fishing, and maybe not go to a rink for week or two, instead of thinkig they need to go to four "pre-tryout clinics" all summer to be readyd for tryouts.

We love early tryouts!!

I've never seen any of these things. It's not done here.

It doesn't look like it gives room for the kid who works his ass off in the off-season to improve. You're basing your current season decisions on how good they were last year, not how good they are now. Also, what about anyone who moves into that school's catchment before the next year?

I dont think we come back in the spring. thats something i havnt heard.
In short split-season is half year midget so HS players can play competitively until the HS season starts and this is done so people don't "commit" to full year teams then leave halfway through
