pro hybrid training instructional goalie dvd

finally, someone has come out with a proper instructional video for today's goalie

Zach from pro hybrid and I got back a number of years, he was a longtime customer and just a total goalie head, I'm not surprised that after this playing days ended he went into instructing.

here's a clip from the dvd, $39.99 and worth every penny for some added instruction. When you consider that some coaches are near the $200 an hour range for top level instruction and most goalies do not get any specific coaching while at practise, these techniques are translatable to by yourself practise on ice and even just the fundamentals can be incorporated into your play.

I tried to embed a clip, but I can't figure this out...click that

He's also a member here "Stthomas goalie" I believe.

The "Pro Hybrid" is more of his company name.

It doesn't implied it is or is not a Hybrid style of training.

Talking Ordered the DVD

I watched the preview and ordered the DVD right away. I've taken lessons at The Goalie Shop i n Calgary and it looks very similar. But as mentioned in another post, private lessons can be prohibitively expensive. This looks like a great visual tool to learn the techniques..now if only i could manage to get my 50" Samsung and dvd player to the rink somehow...

Thanks for all the interest in my DVD

Thanks for all the interest in my DVD
First of all, thanks for all the interest in my DVD!!! I completely understand that I have to earn my merit on this board before you guys all take my System as the WORD..haha. Give me an honest shot and I am 100% confident that you'll be a believer in my system

I am proud of my ProHybrid Goaltending System. I completely understand the nature to challenge/question the concepts and mechanics. I truly welcome the challenge and hope we can all further our collective understanding of the position through intelligent discussion. A board member mentioned in an earlier thread that there are some technical inconsistencies in the trailer. Can you please elaborate with the specific examples?

I love talking goaltending stuff and welcome anyone to call me at 612.396.0758 or email me at zach@prohybridtraining.com

There are many reasons behind the name: The ProHybrid Goaltending System:

1. My version of the T-push, I call it the Powerstride, is a hybrid of the old school t-push and first step of a player's skating stride. Fully rotating the upper body through the intended angle and Loading body weight to the push side are both keys in this athletic and explosive up movement.

2. I call the "L" or "VH" setup the Hybrid Setup because it is a combination of both the stance and butterfly. I stress the importance of this Hybrid setup in making blocking saves when the puck is within a stick distance on shallow angles plus creating power in butterfly recoveries, pushoffs and butterfly slides.

3. Finally and most importantly:

I take pride in teaching the most efficient mechanics of both movement and save execution. Once my goaltenders learn these mechanics, I show them when to use each technique. This phase is when reading and reacting to the given situation comes into play. An effective goalie combines their physical ability to move and execute saves as well as their knowledge of when to use each technique to ultimately stop the puck. Examples of using my Hybrid approach to goaltending are:

When to block vs when to react...Why?
When to execute a narrow butterfly vs. wide butterfly...Why?
When should a goalie play deep vs. challenging the shooter...Why?

These 3 questions are thoroughly examined in my DVD.

...And for those that like to stand up, I teach my young goalies when there is a long shot and its above the hands, standing up is the easiest way to make the save.
Some bigger and experienced goalies feel more comfortable making saves in the butterfly than standing up no matter where the location of the shot...there is a cool interview of Roberto Luongo on youtube where he brings up the subject.

In closing, I'm extremely grateful that Steve McKichan, a well respected goaltending guru has given a thoughtful endorsement to my goaltending DVD. Please go to ProHybrid Training to check out his quote.

I'm truly looking forward to the positive impact my goaltending system will have on goalies of all ages and ability levels. I'm also confident that we'll all learn more about goaltending by interacting on goaliestore.com.

Respectfully,

Zach Sikich

Ummm... I just tried to buy a copy of your video and the "Buy Now" link to purchase your video doesn't work... I imagine that might slow sales down...

im definately going to look into buying this DVD. the goalie coach i work with teaches a very similar system with different names for certain things. He calls it the "reaction-block" system. pretty straight forward haha

but thanx for creating this, hopefully i can pick it up!

There no tax for out-of-state residents?

$10 for shipping?

You should offer a electronic copy at a discount.

We're in a instant gratification society.

This cuts down on risk if your doing bulk distribution and saves the environment on packaging.

Any GSBB Discounts? (This is where most of your customers are going to be)

My DVD was ordered as soon as I saw the trailer. Even though I haven't seen the whole thing yet I have complete confidence that Zach's techniques and understanding of the position will improve my game in some form or another.
