Getting beat low blocker side on slappers

Hi all - I'm playing again after a 13 yr layoff. I always thought I had good angles, and a very quick butterfly, but my last game was a real doozy! I must have let in 4 goals in a row on long slappers low blocker side, on both sides, as wingers were skating in. And for whatever reason, I just COULD NOT adjust. Later on, I realized that in situations like this, where my angles were obviously totally out of whack that night, maybe I should have reduced the distance I was cutting down the angles.

Otherwise, what's the best remedy? Maybe I need Angles 101 again...thx

I find that if you angle your stick out more away from your body, it helps me close the gap between my body and blocker. I also try to bring my blocker in and let the puck hit me, instead of reaching out to deflect the puck. I would suggest angling you stick out more (which makes you crouch a little more), which puts your wrist in an better position to move the blocker from side to side. Of course if your angles are off or you are too deep in the crease, that's the first problem...good luck

Getting Beat

I am old school as well, but, have you thought about getting a stick with a shorter blade?
