Inside Edge Skate Habit?

Not sure where this fits in on the board, but I just recently started playing hockey and I have a problem with my skates. My feet seem to bend inward towards my heels so that my skates are always tilted towards each other. Is this just a normal habit that will lose after a while of skating or should I buy doctor insoles or something? Does anyone else have this problem.

This is not a problem with your skates, It's what all beginners have to go through when their ankles are weak. It will go away after a few months.

Yeh I'm not quite sure if thats the problem. Their mission BSX skates size 8E. I was kind've hesitant of buying the width E and I'm not sure if that really makes a huge difference. People have been telling me that it's only wider by a quarter inch. Would that be the cause of the problem if indeed it is not my weak ankles?

ALL beginners have weak ankles when they first start, it is not your skates.

Assuming your feet aren't moving around in the boot, then it's definitely going to get better. Your skate should feel almost like part of your foot, at least from the arch back up to the ankle. I don't go super tight across the forefoot because I have really wide feet and even EE's are too narrow for me.

I started skating in December (player skates) and was on my ankles pretty much the whole time at first. But now, after nearly 6 months of weekly power skating lessons, it takes a good hour and a half of my coach chasing me around the ice before my lower legs rebel. Happens faster in my goalie skates with less ankle support but I've only worn them a couple of times (though I'm about to start wearing them for my easier mid-week skate so I can get used to the whole "clown shoe" effect, so I expect that to get stronger quickly).

Hang in there!

I have been skating and playing hockey over 47 yrs. Coached 17yrs and gave private skating lessons 5yrs. If your foot is not tight in the boot your ankle is not supported properly, therefore it bends. Weak ankles is like a myth, having a boot that fits properly makes a total difference. I don't think you build up muscles in your ankles to skate better.
If your regular shoe is D width an E skate is too big and it's more than 1/4 ".
Take that for what it is worth.
