"Must have" goalie instruction DVD's?
Hi guys - I want to work on my fundamentals (angles, recovery, skating, etc.) and I wanted to order some of the DVD's that are out there, but I feel like there are so many. Are there maybe a handful (like may top 3) DVD's that are a "must own"? Seems like some of the goalies on here have viewed or own several of the DVD's mentioned on the board.
Appreciate the help, thx

Hey,
I'm a fairly new goalie, but i just got the "pro hybrid training" video made by Zach Sikich and it's pretty good. He's all about efficiency, so he goes pretty in depth in to recovery and positioning.
You may want to look in to that one.

This looks like a good DVD from the preview they offer. I've played hockey for about 10 yrs and took about 6 years off and just got back into it. I was never a butterfly goalie but now I picked it up pretty easily just by watching guys like Lundqvist but I might just pick this up for the hell of it.

Just a heads-up with Popa -- they seem to have gone off the deep end lately, so Buyer Beware. You may or may not get what you order from them, and you may or may not get a refund for what you didn't receive, and you may or may not get any replies to your email inquiries.
They don't even return simple emails asking for information about their camps now, and I know that at least one member here has been screwed out of his money for a camp he paid for that they cancelled.
Everything I've heard about their training is excellent -- it just seems like the last year or so they've gone schizo or something on the way they conduct their business.

Really?
That's so sad to hear. I credit much of my successes to his A&P system. As a smurf, it's that much more crucial to me to fill the net.
Hope it gets resolved.

I bought the PHT video. Excellent video. It slows things down to see, gives you good graphical art to show, and even includes some "do yourself" drills.
I also own the FuturePro video. That's a great source material for the rest of the stuff. They really should be used together.

I just got the PHT video as well and it is great. It really shows solid stuff and alot of it I found that I already incorporate in my style. Now if only my stick handleing was as solid.

BTP DVD's
Take a look a the Between The Pipes DVD series. I got them a few weeks ago and I am very pleased with them. There are four DVD's. They are super-nice people to deal with and there were no issues with ordering. Check out the website. I don't remember the URL. Just Google "Between The Pipes"

100 bucks... but you get 4 dvd's... 1 of the PHT is 40.... let you do the math...
nothing against the PHT from what everyone says... so far so good... but what are you wanting to get from a dvd.. ?

BTP DVD's
I thought the $100 was reasonable for the 4 BTP dvd's. They are broken out by basic and elite fundamentals and drills. I looked at the POPA demo on their site and I thought it was incredibly lame. Each to his own I guess.

I've always found "The Puck Stopps Here" 1 and 2 to be great instructional tools and would highly recommend them. While they may be a bit dated, they are very good at covering the basics of both the stand up and butterfly styles. I still watch them and find them relevant even now!
