If he is 55, then he is old school big time. The game has changed a lot since he started playing and if he cannot adjust, then he isn't as good as he thinks he is.

Just to chime in, I'd have left and never come back. End of story.
Most of the time though, at 6'2" and 210 lbs, I'm bigger than the guys playing, so I get a little bit of leeway when it comes to physical confrontations...but either way, it's not called for in pickup and the guy is definitely going to beat out Jon Edwards for this year's "Biggest Douche in the Universe" award...

Or in other words, "I play for me, me, me, me, myself, me, I, myself, me"
As I suggested initially, it wasn't about one play, which in pure situational terms may very well have been the right one to make. It's the overall pattern that caused the problem.
Some people still need to learn how to "play well with others" - the 55 year old isn't the only one who needs to learn that.

The theme song for the 21st century.
"Cause its all about me, me, me, me, me, me, me,me".
Its pick up hockey.
It is, all about the GOALIE.
What else is important?

Maybe not, but he is the only one in the story who, when he didn't get his way, shot the puck at someone's head.
I mean really, the guy didn't get his way, so he did something stupid and dangerous. He wanted the puck and he didn't get it. In fact, someone else on his team got it for a nice scoring chance. Boo freaking hoo. Either skate faster so you can be free for the puck, don't let the puck get behind you in the first place, or **gasp** deal with it like an adult when someone on your team actually passes the puck to someone else who is open instead of you, especially when you're NOT open.
I would personally never give the guy the puck again. Heck, I'd even make sure to hand it to someone else after I froze it.

Unaccetable at all levels...endangering anyone on purpose is reason enough to get rid of the offender....
My son is a newbie goaltender, first year.
to get him some practice he came out with me to shinny (all adults) and have some fun....all of the players personally asked me what was an acceptable level (how hard) to shoot at him. I explained that he had great equipment but it was made to reflect the quality of shooters that he would face ( young kids)...everything goes great...
then one idiot (30 y/o, i'm 40) launches a slap shot from the face off dot just to the left of the net, just misses his head ...my son to his credit holds his ground and continues playing ......until i tell him to go get changed.....we both got changed and he went to the pro shop.....i waited...
i waited patiently as everyone got changed...told him (the *******) to hurry up and get into his street clothes, suggested that he didn't shower...a few people told me it wasn't worth it....yea right...and as soon as the last person left the dressing room i beat the **** out of him ....every adult in that arena knew what was going to happen and not one of them tried to stop it.....the rink attendants just laughed, saying that they wanted to do it themselves because he was such an *******
he could have ruined my son's life with his careless actions!!!
I know a lot of you guys will not put up with b/s, but u younger guys need to stand up for yourselves. If a group of players are being disrespectful to goalies, we all need to boycott them, i've had other goalies give me a heads up that a group of players were jerks (u can tell because they are always looking for goalies) and told them that i've heard **** about them and wasn't going to put up with it...thanks but no thanks....
Don't let *******s ruin our fun, if we all stick together and say were not going to play with dicks, the other players will expell them or keep them in line.

Did the jerk try to press charges against you?? Would have sucked if you had to go to court because of his careless actions.
Hope your son still enjoyed the chance to get out and play with his dad and most of the level headed other players

"We" won the Calder Cup!!!
Guys who dress one game don't make the picture , but the game I dressed I replaced the guy in the red pads on the right, and my name did get mentioned in the opening night program the next season
But that's enough "me, me, me", for me today
