GSBB, Help Me Get Fit!

Hey guys. As summer is officially getting underway, im looking to get into shape. Im about 30 lb over. Yes I know it may seem like alot, but im the type of person that will gain a pound just by eating something very small. Im looking for you guy's help to make a food choice and exercise plan.

Foods I like:
Carrots, Broccoli , Cauliflower, Cucumbers
All Meat
Mangos, Pineapple, Apples, Banana's , Oranges, all that stuff.

Im guessing the best way is to eliminate Diet Coke and junk food, correct? I love no fat Yogurt with fruits and good granola. I usually have a grain bagel with Creton in the morning or low fat Cream Cheese. I'm looking to bike to work probably 3 or 4 times a week. Its 6KM per way. Any help guys? I really want to commit to this so any help would be great.

So lots of water, fruits , veggies, no junk food and pop and alot of exercise is a start?

Eat a lot. Lots of saturated and trans fats. Melt a stick of butter and drink it.

Kill the soda. Immediately. Replace crap with fresh fruits and veggies. Doing that alone will go a long way.

There is already an extremely good thread thats a sticky at the top you should look at for nutrition advice.

Also, countless other threads about fitness training/stretching etc.. All it takes is a search and some time reading through.

I'm planning on working out a lot this summer. I'm fat, and what I'm doing outside of dryland with the team, is working out my core, doing a lot of leg exercises, getting flexible, and eating healthier. With the team in dryland, we jog 2 miles twice a week, after that we do conditioning for 2 hours, and have a little scrimmage at the last 30 min ( We have dryland in a park that has 2 roller rinks )

Thanks guys. Sieve, good one, im laughing.

I read it all just making sure im on the right track. The plan you said FRAM, I think may be a bit too much for someone who is 15. I could be wrong, but it just seems like it.

DONT EAT JUNKFOOD OR DRINK SODAS!!!!!!

Try to eat 5-6 times a day and 2-3 hours between the meals. If you do that your body never gets on "starvation mode" and the will help you burn fat. If your body gets on "starvatin mode" it will be burning muscles instead of fat.

Good luck!

Advantage of being broke is when I get groceries I only buy good foods. Lots of veggies. I always get those big clear containers of spring mix greens and I eat them everday with sauteed veggies . I always buy alot of salmon and chicken. Also almonds I hear burns belly fat. Get other nuts to instead of chips. Its like a life style change and cooking for yourself is awsome. No bread unless its wheat or whole grain. Im still 30 lbs over weight myself but my pants the last 6 weeks with alot of games and stick n puck sessions combined with my job I've dropped a loop in my belt. I sweat buckets at work.

Even with my belly fat and thunder thighs I see myself lasting longer on roller hockey games in the extreme heat over the skinny white boys who are laying around with there mask off during intermissions. I'm standing in my net waiting for the next opening faceoff ready to go. Its becuase of the diet change. I also notice that when you eat alot better that fast food. pizza ,and dark colored sodas dont taste good anymore. I used to blow my money at drive thrus in my early 20's and I was like 295lbs at one point. Closing in on 29 yearsold to continue palying goal I need to get down to like 235Lbs or lower one day. My knees were hurting alot when I drank pop and the excess weight.

Buy one of those Mens Health magazines. There awsome. You read about alot of things that even healthy people dont even know about. Good stuff.

Good point. I would have to defer to a fitness expert on that.

I'm going to go grocery shopping tomorrow, I will pick up those items. I had no idea what food to buy. But I love fish though. Chicken is my most favorite food.

Right, im not a fan of fish much either...or i wasnt but trust me on this...tinned tuna in water is better than pretty much anything for the amount of protein and essential fatty acids you get from it......Apart from some seaweed, ive heard...anyway...So, heres something i eat that is affordable, you can buy stuff in bulk for and contains pretty much everything a healthy balanced meal needs overall.

3 tablespoons of chickpeas
3 tablespoons of garden peas (little green ones)
3 tablespoons of sweetcorn

Microwave them from frozen...frozen veg is the shizznitz.

Then 2 lumps of spinach..again, microwaved from frozen.

Half a bag of cooked brown rice (those individual boil in the bag things)

One tin of tuna in water.

Garlic puree to taste.

BBQ seasoning to taste.

So..Cook the rice off in advance (one bag=2 days) microwave the veg, Spinach seperately, throw the cooked veg into a wok (or large pan) add the tuna, stir, break up the tuna, add the rice, add the garlic and seasoning and bobs your uncle...done. Remember, veg and rice are cooked, you're only warming them and the tuna through.
10 mins tops and you have something packed with vitamins, not too many carbs (although i know you need them) bags of protein and enough fibre to counter the protein. The BBQ seasoning hides the taste of the tuna and also adds spice to speed up your metabolism while garlic adds flavour and is good for your heart.

Plus you can spoon it in like a baby while you watch the tv *ahem* i mean..latest profly dvd you bought

Anyway, just something that works for me and i actually enjoy eating. Green tea is also good for you and id consider buying Omega 3,6,9 capsules. Like i said previously, if you read the sticky thread at the top of the doctor page on muscles etc.. you will learn a hell of a lot.

Good luck, im in the middle of trying to do the same thing as you and it does get easier after a couple of weeks without kebabs...with garlic and chilli...
