Shots to the Mask???

2 weeks ago, our team won 4-2, me, being the one trying to show off a low GAA, wasnt too happy that it couldve been 4-1 if it hadnt been for this one shot. it was a weak wrist from the faceoff circle that hit my cage and bounced in. this isnt the first time, so im wondering how do u control those???

Healy with the save!

You could always do the Healy Hop. Remember when Glenn Healy used to hop in the air when a high shot to the head, chest and shoulders would come his way and take it in the middle of his chest protector. Or just catch the darn puck.

if it was going for my head i would just duck as i know for certain that it would be going over the net

so my advice, would be find someway of making your self taller

think its more that you have to try and get something else in the way of the puck first as it is impossible to control a rebound of the mask

If it was a weak wrister, you should've been able to catch before it hit your mask. When it's a hard shot though, like on a one timer, you gotta try to stay focused and unphased, that's if you're not rattled or knocked unconscious lol. Try to stay alert and follow the play and you may very well be able to cover the puck or make the rebound save if there's one to be made. In any event, you should try to catch any shot going to your head provided you can get your glove up on time... Sometimes your face just happens to be at the "right" place at the right time, that is between the shooter and a goal

Off your cage and in

Let's not overanalyze this. This is such an infrequent occurence , why even worry about it? The next 9 times a shot hits you in the cage it's unlikely the puck winds up in the net.
