Wouldn't it be opposite? If it would be loose the puck would have a cushion. If it would be tight, it would have none and just bounce off.

I think the tight straps would help with kicking your leg out to control the rebounds, because t he pad moves with ur leg.

Thats what I'm trying to say. I'm somewhere in the middle, so can't speak on ones behalf, but theoretically it sounds right. I said more controllable, not 100% controllable, whats the fun in that anyway?

I wear my v2s loose, and I feel I have very little control on rebounds sometimes!! I am definitely tightening up my pads!

It seems that everyone is posting there personal preference in this thread, So it makes sense that what ever you find yourself comfortable with you should use.

I like my straps tight the whole way up to my knee so that it feels like the pad moves as my leg would. At the knee I wear them a little looser so that my knee can bend when butterflying. Alot of people like them loose the whole way down because it is easier to get rotation.

Thanks for all the responses guys. I switched the calf straps on my p2's to the knee stacks and they felt a little better. It was a little tight still because of my knee pads so I have to tweak them a bit too. Another question. When you lace up the toe laces how loose should they be? Im sure it's personal preference too but i want to take some stress off my hips so i can close up my bfly a bit better. It makes sense to have them a bit looser.

Are pads too advanced?

Does anyone besides me ever think that the pads are becoming a bit too much high-tech? If we can't even figure out how to put them on how are we going to play well? I can't picture Bower and Sawchuk discussing strap technique.

I wear my boot strap as tight as it can go. And my ankle strap as tight as I can make it. My calf strap is as big as my calf. It's not loose nor tight, just right. My knee strap is rather loose. My thigh strap is as loose as it can go. It works for me.
