Very tough week

Well, this comming week I am going to be on the ice ALOT!!

first off i have a goalie camp that starts off with classroom at 8:30, powerskateing at 10 for an hour, dryland for an hour then ice again for drills for 1 hour 30 min.

THEN i stay at the arena for a players camp that i get to go to for free. this is Jeff Perrys elite pro camp with guys from AHL one guy from the NHL , a bunch from pro leagues in europe, college players and OHL players, Jr B and C players and a few my own age (16). I am on the ice with them for 2 hours.

Is too much, can my body handle this.

Looking for some advice on how to keep energized and hydrated.

That's not bad, I've had worst. What I do is bring lots of gatorade and energy bars, which seems to work well. I also put a small fan in my bag so that I can dry my gear between sessions (I HATE wet gear).

Water, more water and water. If you get sick of water: Drink water. You get the idea.

Oh yea, also eat and stretch properly. Your body will be fine. Sore but fine.

Sleeeeep.

Be VERY careful of over-hydrating. Don't drink only plain water, you'll get water intoxication. Drink something with electrolytes in it as well, Gatorade or something like it. You'll need it.

Stay away from the simple sugars like that. It will give you a 10min. rush , then you'll crash like a sac of potatoes

Fruits, ripe ones are better. Bananas have the natural sugars and potassium to help prevent cramping. Oranges, plums, pears, peaches...you get the picture

You're lucky! And at your age, you can take it.

I just finished a 5 days/7hrs a day goalie camp where i helped coach 3 different levels groups and had to do a 4-5 hour work shift cleaning in a warehouse the same nights. My body was dead and sore. My skates killed and i STILL can't feel my left big toe.

Have fun kid

There...that is thinking. You have a priority objective and need to consider that. Even though the camp is a great learning and building experience, you don't wanna show up to the tryouts all mush...right?

Good luck!

Thx 34. Bananas were a life saver when i bike raced in the '90s. Nature's medicine cabinet always works best
