playing 2 games

I have a few opportunities to play 2 games in the same day. Some back to back, others an hour or more apart. I'm worried about fatigue, especially for the back to back games. My important league game is always first followed by pick up. I can relax a bit during pick up as it is low key and mainly for fun. I'm lucky to have these opportunities and want to take advantage. I just don't want to die out there. I'm no kid. Any suggestions? What do you guys do?

I've played 3 games in a day before. Just eat right between games.

Make sure you're hydrated!

I usually have a Sprite/7up betweeen games if I'm going back to back.

If it's an hour between games, I take off my body armor and change shirts and try to dry my gloves... Also, make sure you get a good stretch in.

As far as you not being a kid-I'm 54 and play at least 3X weekly.... Work on your off ice stretching and there's no reason why you cannot play for many years!

I am 41, I routinely play 2 games a night at least once or twice a week. Last Sunday I did 5 games, I was a bit wiped that night!

Stay hydrated properly and eat some carbs several hours beforehand. Work on your cardio conditioning too, that will help!

I hear ibuprofin afterwards helps. I never do it, but it might help you.

Compression shorts are very helpful. I find my hips/groin don't ache as much during my second games when I wear them.

great advice

Thanks guys. I pretty much do a lot of what's been suggested. I do cardio 3 - 4 times per week. I take a Yoga class for flexibility as well. I also play 2 other days each week. I do wear compression shorts, wouldn't play without them. I'll try accelerade as well. As far as Ibuprofen goes, I usually need to take a couple especially if I have to work the next morning.

1. Rehydrate (I chugged down a Rockstar, probably frowned upon here.).

2. Relax, but stay loose with some stretches.

3. Change out wet clothes if you're not wearing some form of under armor.

4. Take advantage of the warm up to get back into game mode.

That's what I did when I had back to back games, basically ten minutes between them.

I generally dont feel satisfied unless I play at least 6 periods of hockey, whether I be back to back or with a break.

multiple games

It seems most games are Sundays, so I end up playing at 10am, and later in day. Like they said, drink water, if you have time, a nap is good.

Eat well and do a carb load the day before as well.

Strangely I usually play really really well playing multiple games in one day, especially the last game, its like the rest of the day was a big warm up lol
