Unhappy Looking for icetime in MN

Seems silly right? Well hear me out.

After college most of the people I skated with moved away. I play sparingly on thursday nights at the Super Rink but I live an hour away and I don't end up getting home till real late (or early depending on how you look at it). Basically I find myself stuck in a situation where I live too far from civilization and the icetimes are too late... guess thats what I should expect eh?

I skated with some high school buddies on Friday nights up at our home rink in Elk River. That was perfect; the time was not too late (usually around 8) and I live about 10 minutes from the rink. Unfortunately they don't let us skate there due to us being hooligans... and lots of fighting.

I am looking for ice, preferably on the weekends. If any of you MNers know of anything or anyone looking for a goalie, please let me know. I've been so preoccupied with marraige, school, etc over the last several years that I have fallen out of touch with most of my hockey contacts. I played for a few weeks at school last year but that did not work out.

I know this is kind of a long shot, but from one goalie to a board of a bunch of goalies.. I am dying here I need to get out of my house at least once a week.

There are a ton of options around the cities it kind of just depends on what you want. There are pickup adults games at most of the area arenas if you just want some ice time, goalies of course are always free. Just hit up the different city arenas and look at the times. I know Eagan has a good one on Saturday evenings. If you want to be in a league the AHA Hockey group has a whole range of lvls. You need to go to tryouts for it, last one is the 25th of this month I believe. Other then that a lot of the arenas have their own league, Richfeild has a decent one still I think. The other group which gets a lot of attention is JMS, its basically a beginner hockey program for adults, but they do ahve a couple skates for the more advanced people, mostly Friday nights. Hope that helps.

I am definitely looking for more pickup hockey... basically anyone who "needs a goalie", whether it is a drop-in session or an AHA league game or whatever.. I think you need to be on some type of list to be able to fill in for the AHA but I can't remember. I did that once a few years ago and it was fun. I don't have the $$$ to get involved with that league right now.

I think pickup hockey would be great.

You can sign up as a sub goalie in the AHA, total cost with all the fees is still a bit steep, $30 to be a sub goalie #20 for the eval and $40 for the US Hockey membership.
